With The Last Pogo Jumps Again producers/directors Kire Paputts and Colin Brunton busy (Kire developing his feature The Rainbow Kid; Colin producing a TV series), it’s been a long time since we posted anything.   Not that there’s not any news!

Gary Topp (of The Garys, the promoters who booked all the cool bands in Toronto during the heyday — and before, and after — of punk/new-wave) was rooting around his basement, when he ran across a 16mm print of The Last Pogo, the 25 minute short that was shot in 1978, and that documents the “last” punk show at the Horseshoe Tavern.  For those who may not know, 16mm is a series of tiny photographs that when projected at 24 frames a second creates the illusion of movement.  And that’s where the name “movies” came from.  Maybe.

People watching a print of something at the Trash Palace.

Stacey Case has booked this rare print to be shown at his awesomely underground cinema, The Trash Palace in Toronto.  Just off Bathurst Street, down Niagra, scoot down the laneway, go down the dark basement stairs, and voila — a cinema! Its going to play on May 10 in the evening, with some other cool films.  Films inside, 4/20 in the laneway. Check their site for more details and location.  Here it is! www.trashpalace.ca

Then, sometime later in May — waiting for confirmation — The Last Pogo Jumps Again will be playing in the inaugural film section of the Hot Plains Music Festival in Edmonton.    Sounds like either the weekend of the 17th or maybe the 24th (Hello!?  Hot Plains?  Get back to us please.)

On June 22 we’ve got another matinee on a Sunday at 1:00 at the Bell TIFF Lightbox in Toronto.  This screening is in conjunction with the official release of Globe & Mail writer Geoff Pevere’s short book on Hamilton’s greatest band, Teenage Head.  Lots of swag to buy, lots of peeps to check out.  Be there!

And finally, coming soon this summer:  the 3 disc DVD release of The Last Pogo Jumps Again.  It will include the 204 minute feature, plus another two hours of added features including interviews with Tommy Ramone, Adny Shernoff, Danny Fields, Andy Summer, Hugh Cornwell… and much much more.
